Sheffield Futures Appoints Chris Hood as Chief Executive Officer
Sheffield Futures is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Hood as its new Chief Executive Officer. Hood brings with him extensive experience in Sheffield and South Yorkshire’s Voluntary sector and a strong vision for the charity’s future.
Hood has robust experience as a charity leader, having most recently served as CEO at SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association) for over 11 years. During this time, he secured multiple sources of funding for the charity which ultimately achieved financial stability, developed a new business plan with service user voice at its heart, and brought a person-centred approach to the forefront of the organisation’s ethos and values.
A collaborator and embracer of diversity, Hood’s long track record of overseeing organisational and personnel growth will be an incredible asset for Sheffield Futures.
Chris Humphreys, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “We are delighted that Chris will be joining us in May – he comes with a proven track as a CEO and charity leader having led SYEDA for over 11 years. What stood out more though were his values, culture and absolute fit with everything that Sheffield Futures stands for, and a steely determination to make an impact for the better on the lives of young people.
Finding a CEO is never easy but finding the right one to take Sheffield Futures through its next period of development was a significant decision for the Board - in appointing Chris we’re sure we’ve found that person, and personally I’m looking forward to it.”
Hood said: “I am honoured and humbled to step into the role of CEO at Sheffield Futures, an organisation that has made such a profound impact on the lives of young people over the last 30 years. I have greatly admired the dedication, passion and tireless work of the incredible staff team in Sheffield. I am thrilled to be now part of the mission to further diversify its reach and impact. My values of inclusivity, optimism and determination to facilitate change align perfectly with Sheffield Futures and I will ensure I do everything I can to repay the trust invested in me.”
The new CEO will join the charity in May 2025. Under Hood’s leadership, Sheffield Futures will continue to focus on implementing our new three-year strategic plan to achieve financial sustainability and innovations through young person-centred delivery.
We look forward to this new chapter. For further inquiries, please contact Kirsty Sandamas, Communications and Business Development Manager at [email protected].
